According to the World Health Organization (WHO), someone around the globe commits suicide every 40 seconds. Would you know what to do if someone in your life expressed suicidal thoughts? Perhaps you, or someone close to you, have even considered suicide. It’s a fact – suicide will affect us all at some point in our lives. So let’s @TalkAboutIT2014!
From 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 6th, a group of Renison BSW students will be engaging the student body, faculty and staff in discussions about suicide. Why? Because research indicates that more and more students on university and college campuses are struggling with suicidal thoughts.
Join the @TalkAboutIT2014 movement and support our students. Learn about what resources are available on campus, as well as in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Learn to identify the early warning signs that may indicate a risk of suicide. Look for our booth in the Renison College cafeteria and in the Student Life Centre. Knowledge is power!
Our goal is to share information, and ultimately decrease the stigma around talking about our pain so that no one has to feel alone or ashamed.
Come out and @TalkAboutIT2014! See you on November 6th!
The Student Life Centre is located on the west side of Ring Road on the University of Waterloo Campus, and is closest to the intersection of Hagey Boulevard and Ring Road. The SLC is south of the Lyle S. Hallman Institute for Health Promotion and the Physical Activities Complex buildings.
