We are excited to be offering various ways for our community to participate in World Suicide Prevention Day 2020.
Virtual Wellness Fair
We’re pleased to announce a Virtual Wellness Fair this year. We will be sharing videos from local community organizations who provide mental health and wellness services and resources. These will be shared on our website and facebook page.
Virtual World Suicide Prevention Day Ceremony
We are looking forward to gathering our community virtually by livestreaming a World Suicide Prevention Day ceremony on September 10th at 6pm. This ceremony will be live streamed on the Waterloo Region Suicide Prevention Council facebook page.
World Suicide Prevention Day At-Home Activity Kits & Hope, Help, Healing Social Media Challenge
Ordering for our At-Home Activity Kits is now closed. Thank you to everyone who reserved a kit for themselves, their families, or their organization. Whether you ordered a kit or not, we encourage you all to participate in our Hope, Help, Healing social media challenge!
The Challenge: Butterflies are a symbol of strength, resilience, and growth. From September 1-10 we challenge YOU to share your at-home activity kit creations or to create a butterfly using any materials (get creative!) and share it on social media (Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter) using the hashtag #WSPD2020WR, and tagging @WRSPC. After September 10th, WRSPC will chose ONE lucky winner to receive a family pass to the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory generously donated by them (https://www.cambridgebutterfly.com/)
Mysterious Barricades Cross-Canada Concert
Mysterious Barricades hosts a free concert performed by Canadian musicians that will be streamed for virtual audiences between September 10th and 17th. The donation of time and talent from each extraordinary musician is performed for the purpose of providing healing and connection to those who are affected by suicide, either in surviving a loss or in dealing with their own mental health issues.
