This short guide, released in honor of World Suicide Prevention Day, provides information about how to reach out for help, how to help someone who might be struggling, and how to create a safety plan.

 

“Suicide Prevention Toolkits” by Mental Health Commission of Canada 

Suicide Prevention Toolkits – Mental Health Commission of Canada

The Mental Health Commission of Canada has updated and re-released two of their suicide prevention toolkits, one for people who have attempted suicide, and the other for people who have lost someone to suicide. Both toolkits provided links to other resources and information that may be useful, and the toolkits can be downloaded as a pdf, or accessed online.

 

“Newcomers and Suicide Prevention” by CMHA Alberta and Centre for Suicide Prevention 

At the beginning of this year, CMHA Alberta and Centre for Suicide Prevention collaborated on a toolkit for newcomers. The purpose of the toolkit is to introduce the topic of newcomers and suicide prevention, including warning signs, risk and protective factors, and what can be done to support newcomers.

How to Have Curious and Courageous Conversations – Centre for Innovation in Campus Mental Health

Although not specifically focused on conversations regarding suicide prevention, this infosheet by the Centre for Innovation in Campus Mental Health helps to provide information and tips to have curious and courageous conversation. These types of conversations can help to address conflict, problem-solve, and build positive relationships with others.
