There are some very helpful support groups and education groups in our community where you can increase your knowledge and feel supported. Below are some groups that may be beneficial for family members and friends supporting someone that is struggling.
General Mental Health Support Group

Adult Family Education Series
Adult family education is a service run by CMHA Waterloo Wellington and is offered specifically to family members and caregivers who are supporting an adult with mental health and/or addiction issues.

“Supporting the Supporter” Group
The “Supporting the Supporter” group is facilitated by Self Help and Peer Support Waterloo Wellington. It is a weekly support group for friends and family that are supporting individuals who live with mental health and/or addiction. Peer-led discussions about mental health, addictions, and how best to be supportive while considering personal boundaries, community resources and self care.

Parents for Children’s Mental Health Groups
Parents for Children’s Mental Health has a Waterloo Chapter which hosts different peer support groups and events for parents of children with mental health issues or illnesses.
